Cathbert’s GREEN Policy:
Our Sustainable Operations include:
- All detergents and soaps used at Cathbert are biodegradable.
- All waste is separated and recycled.
- We only use borehole water and recycled waste water to irrigate.
- Only serve fish on the green list of the Southern African Seafood initiative.
- We employ mostly local people, with a small proportion of our staff coming from neighbouring countries.
- We have committed ourselves to clearing all alien vegetation and planting indigenous vegetation.
- We support the local (farm-) school and have set up bursaries for the children of our staff to attend good schools.
- We support our local community"VGK" church
- We support Amelia's children. Amelia is a wonderful lady who started an orphanage some 15 years ago with the onset of aids babies being orphaned.
- We source a huge percentage of our produce and services from within a 25 kilometre radius.
- We use shower saving roses and energy saving light bulbs.
- Sustainable land management:
- Continuous clearing of invasive vegetation and rehabilitation of stream banks.
- Implementation of sustainable techniques & products.

- We have converted Cathbert to solar power.
