In the heart of the Cape Winelands just 45 minutes from Cape Town and amid mountainous scenery lie the following internationally renowned golf estates all in close proximity of our luxury guesthouse…
PEARL VALLEY GOLF ESTATE:
South Africa's premier new sporting residential development situated among orchards and vineyards on the outskirts of two of the Cape's most famous wineland towns, Franschhoek and Paarl. Pearl Valley is the latest addition to the Jack Nicklaus’s repertoire of signature-designed courses worldwide.
The Pearl Valley Golf Estate is surrounded by the Simonsberg and Drakenstein Mountains and bordered by vineyards with The Berg River water hazard running through it. Pearl Valley Signature Golf Estate and Spa is destined to become the premier residential golf estate in South Africa. Designed on 212 hectares of tranquil surroundings for those who expect exclusivity and the finest quality lifestyle yet unmatched in this country.
BOSCHENMEER GOLF COURSE:
Tee up to play on this, the first David Frost signature golf course in South Africa and the first and only 27-hole layout golf course in the Western Cape. Backdrop to your back-swing is the majestic Paarl Franschhoek mountain range. Add mature trees, artfully conceived water features, and the famous Berg River and you've got the kind of layout that challenges the pro, rewards the amateur and inspires residents out for a stroll in their 140 hectare back yard.
Boschenmeer blends the experience of natural beauty with playability in a way that is set to achieve world renown. Designer David Frost has created a golf course of true championship standard. At the same time he has achieved a first class golfing experience that will both challenge the low handicap and scratch golfer, yet not be too daunting for the less experienced 'weekender'.
DE ZALZE GOLF COURSE:
The De Zalze Golf Course situated within the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate was designed by Peter Matkovich who has made the most of the stunning setting and created a course that places a premium on accuracy. The course is ranked by Golf Digest to be number three in the Western Cape. De Zalze golf course is the first course in the world to be awarded Fair Trade in Tourism certification. The golf course is part of the 300 hectare and much sought after De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate.
The course has an excellent mix of parkland holes with its main defences coming from the water features on several of the holes as well as the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals. De Zalze Golf Club welcomes visiting golfers from around the globe and is geared to provide an exceptional experience from the moment you arrive. After your round of golf you may be tempted to relax on the open scenic terrace and enjoy a delicious meal together with a selection of some fine wines from both Spier and Kleine Zalze, two of the regions premier wine producers.
STELLENBOSCH GOLF COURSE:
With some holes bordering the vineyards, large trees framing the holes and surrounded by mountain slopes under vine, this is a parkland layout that is a delight to play. Stellenbosch Golf Club has already celebrated its centenary, but it was only in 1953 that it grew from a 9-hole course into 18 holes. It has a championship layout that has hosted many prestigious tournaments in the past. Amongst others, the South African Open and South African Masters were hosted at this picturesque 18-hole layout. The 1999 SA Open at Stellenbosch Golf Club proved to be one of the toughest Opens in the last decade.
